Farsightedness
In the normal eye, light bends through the cornea and
lens to focus on the retina. With farsightedness the eye is shorter (or cornea is flatter) causing the focal
point of light to be behind the retina. The image is therefore
out of focus on the retina and vision is blurred.
LASIK is a
surgical procedure that is capable of correcting a wide
range of nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia)
and astigmatism. No needles or general anesthetics are
used. The goal of Laser Vision Correction is to reduce or
eliminate nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism,
thereby reducing or eliminating the dependence on contact
lenses and/or eyeglasses.
The decision to have laser vision
surgery to correct farsightedness or other problems
is an important one that ultimately only you can make.
It is important that you have expectations based on facts,
not hopes and misconceptions.
